Tasting Wine Like a Pro

One doesn't have to learn to pronounce Trockenbeerenauslese, or learn the over 3,000 Italian grape varietals, to appreciate the complexity and splendor of a glass of wine, but good tasting skills make a world of difference.

In a fun and interactive setting, you will learn meaningful, precise, descriptive wine terminology to describe all the phenomena you see, smell, touch, and taste in wine.  Increasing your knowledge of wine flavor components, their origins, and how they interact, you will elevate your taste perception from simple marker detection  to a more rewarding varietal recognition and your ability to describe and remember wines will increase exponentially.

This course is based on an approach professionals use to develop their skills, but shortened and led in a fun and down-to-earth style.  We will focus on the structure of a wine with an end goal of you being better equipt to describe exactly what it is that you like (and don't like) in a wine.

You will emerge from this class with a full sensory toolbox of evaluation skills that will enable you to approach any wine and focus meaningfully on what it has to offer.  That's the beauty in experiencing wine: learning to appreciate what each individual glass of wine is trying to say and then, in turn, being able to communicate that message back to others.  Once we can achieve that, our enjoyment of wine will skyrocket!  :-)
